Criteria
Couples can apply for a marriage license in East Greenwich if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Either party is an East Greenwich resident
- Both parties live out of state and the wedding ceremony is taking place in East Greenwich.
Both parties must appear in person to apply for and sign a marriage license. A valid photo ID is required. Applicants that were born in the United States must provide a certified copy of their birth certificate (with a raised seal). Passports (unexpired) are only accepted as an alternate form of photo ID or for applicants who were born outside of the United States and cannot produce a certified copy of their birth record. If it is not the first marriage for either applicant then a final divorce decree (with a raised seal) or death certificate (with a raised seal) must be presented.
