[ARCHIVED] Storm Related Communications

Dear Resident,

Storm preparedness and cleanup are essential for the safety and well-being of all East Greenwich residents. We take that charge seriously, and we are proud of our staff for working incredibly hard to mitigate weather-related emergencies. Our team works around-the-clock in preparation of storms, and to clear debris and snow long after the storms have passed.

At Monday’s Town Council meeting, questions were raised during public comment regarding the Town’s communications procedures in advance of and during storms. I am writing to inform you that no changes have been made to the Town’s standard operating procedures regarding storm-related communications. This information is distributed by the Town in numerous ways.

Once a parking ban has been determined by the Police Department and Department of Public Works, it is submitted to the Rhode Island Broadcast Association. Trash collection delays and closures to senior and recreation programs are also submitted for broadcast. This information is also communicated to residents via the Town website, and over 6,800 phone calls are made to East Greenwich residents and senior citizens living in other communities who use our services.

Furthermore, the community room at the Police Department has been and continues to be available to residents 24/7 as a warming center.

If you would like more information on how to receive alerts and other communications from the Town, please visit the Alerts and Notification page on the website.

Sincerely,

Gayle A. Corrigan

Town Manager
