[ARCHIVED] Town Holiday Donation Program

Gift

The ability of the Town to meet the requests of families in need depends upon the availability of donations. Please help the Department of Senior and Human Services (DSHS) help families in need by calling 886-8638 weekdays between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Families in need should contact DSHS as soon as possible.  Those needing assistance in providing gifts for their children during the December holidays can complete an application at the Department’s office, located at the Swift Community Center, 121 Peirce Street or call 886-8638.  The deadline to complete an application is Friday, November 17th.  Applications received after the 17th will be matched with donors contingent on availability. Each adopted family will be contacted to make arrangements for gift distribution.

Adopt a Family in Need

The Department offers a Holiday Giving Program which provides gifts for East Greenwich children (ages 13 and under). The Department is seeking community partners; individuals, families and businesses to anonymously ‘adopt’ families in need for the December holidays.

If you are interested in adopting a family in need, please call 886-8638 weekdays between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. by Friday, November 17th.  Donors will receive age and gender appropriate “wish lists” from the adopted families. Donor and recipient personal information is strictly confidential. Gifts must be delivered, unwrapped, to the DSHS, located at the Swift Community Center, 121 Peirce Street by Monday, December 18th.

Those interested in helping the Holiday Giving Program do not have to adopt a family; wrapping paper, gift bags and tissue paper are always appreciated!  Donations can be made in person at the DSHS, located at the Swift Community Center, 121 Peirce Street.

Holiday Dinners

The East Greenwich Holiday Giving Program will distribute baskets and meals to residents in need. East Greenwich families who need help should call DSHS at 886-8638 to request a holiday food basket. The deadline to register for a November basket is Wednesday, November 1st.  The deadline to register for a December basket is Wednesday, November 29th.
